New England to grab playoff byes Corpus Christi Caller

By winning their seventh straight game, the Redskins rolled to their first division title in 13 years with a 28 18 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Next up for Robert Griffin III Co.: a home playoff matchup next Sunday with the Seahawks the third straight postseason game for Washington against Seattle.

"It's just a mindset change," the rookie quarterback said. "When you have all these guys coming to work every day, putting it on the line, we knew we couldn't afford to lose one game, we made sure we didn't"

The Texans fell from first to third in the conference Sunday when they lost 28 16 at Indianapolis, which welcomed back coach Chuck Pagano after nearly three months of treatments for leukemia.

AFC West champion Denver won its 11th straight game, 38 3 over Kansas City to secure the top seed. New England blanked Miami 28 0 for the second spot.

Minnesota edged Green Bay 37 34 to grab the final NFC wild card, sinking the Packers to the third seed. Those teams will meet again next Saturday night at Lambeau Field.

The other NFC matchup will have Seattle (11 5), which beat St. ET. in the AFC wild card rounds.

The divisional round games will be hosted by Denver on Saturday, Jan. 12, followed by San Francisco (11 4 1) at night. On Sunday, Jan. 13, Atlanta (13 3) will host the early game, followed by New England (12 4).

Peyton Manning threw for three touchdowns as Denver (13 3) routed the Chiefs. New England got the second seed despite having the same record as Houston because it beat the Texans, who lost three of their final four games.

Adrian Peterson had 199 yards against the Packers, finishing with 2,097 Dickerson's single season rushing mark in 2,105. But it was rookie kicker Blair Walsh who won it with a 29 yard field goal as time expired.

"Ultimately we got the W,'" Peterson said. "I told myself to come into this game focused on one thing, and that's winning."

Green Bay would have been seeded second in the NFC by beating Minnesota.

"The road got a little tougher having to play on opening weekend, but we've got a home game and that's why you win the division," Aaron Rodgers said. "We get to go back home, and the game will be different. They won't have home crowd advantage, and hopefully that will make a difference."

Baltimore Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed is looking forward to a reunion with Pagano. He wishes it would come a little later in the postseason.

"Chuck's like a dad to me," Reed said "He means a lot to me. I would have much rather seen Cheap NFL Jerseys them in the AFC championship game than the first game."

But Reed will see him next week at Baltimore.

The Ravens had a chance to move up to the AFC's third seed with a win and a New England loss. But Baltimore lost at Cincinnati as both teams played backups for much of the game.

Pagano coached the Ravens' secondary for three seasons and was promoted to coordinator last year. Players and coaches in Baltimore have kept in touch, offering encouragement as he fought through the cancer treatments.

"Going back to Baltimore, obviously there's some familiarity there," Pagano said. "We had four great years there as a family. It's a top notch organization, you know, really good football club. It's a great challenge and they have a great team and they have great players all over the place."

The Colts were 2 14 last season and chose quarterback Andrew Luck with the top selection in the draft. Luck and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, who stepped in as interim coach with Pagano sidelined, led the turnaround.

Next week, Pagano goes up against former boss John Harbaugh.

"I love his family, and he's one of my closest personal friends Cheap Jerseys in coaching," Harbaugh said. "What he's been through is phenomenal, but we're all competitors so that gets set aside."

Houston beat Cincinnati in the opening round of last year's playoffs.

"I think it will be good," said Bengals QB Andy Dalton, who grew up in suburban Houston. "We played there last year and know the atmosphere and what it's going to be like. The experience last year will definitely help us."

The defending Super Bowl champion Giants are out of contention. When Chicago beat Detroit 26 24, the Giants (9 7) were eliminated, even though they routed Philadelphia 42 7.

"It hurts," said Eli Manning. "Each year you want to make the playoffs to give yourself an opportunity to win a championship; 9 7 last year was good enough. It wasn't good enough this year and we knew it wouldn't be."

The NFL draft begins

NFL draft talk can't http://www.49ersofficialnflauthentic.com/authentic-marcus-martin-jersey.html be trusted

The NFL draft begins Thursday tonight, none too soon for the league's general managers, who've spent the last several months treating conversations with their peers like the headlines of a supermarket tabloid believed at your peril.

"I refer to this time before the draft as 'National Liars Month' in the NFL," former Dallas Cowboys personnel guru Gil Brandt tells USA TODAY Marcus Martin Womens Jersey Sports. "There are so many things said that are misdirection."

MOCK http://www.49ersofficialnflauthentic.com/authentic-brandon-thomas-jersey.html DRAFT: Who will join Clowney as top five pick?

BRENNAN: Will the NFL take over the entire calendar?

And there's more smokescreens surrounding this draft than any in a long time, Brandt believes.

"They are 10 times more than what they normally are," he says. The reason: "There's nine really good players up at the top of the draft. And everybody's got a favorite. People are trying to get people off of who they really want."

Much of the extra smoke comes from the availability of Jadeveon Clowney and Johnny Manziel, two of the most polarizing players in recent draft history. Some experts believe South Carolina's Clowney is a generational talent who will go No. 1, though Brandt thinks the Houston Texans might go instead with Buffalo's Khalil Mack, one of the least polarizing because he is one of the least known. Others have had Manziel going as high as No. 1 overall, or as low as the fourth round.

"I had an agent call me the other day who said, 'Have you heard about Clowney's knee?' " Brandt says. "I said, 'I haven't heard about Clowney's knee.' He said, 'I had a general manager tell me that they're really concerned about it.' It's that kind of stuff that goes on."

Last week the St. Louis Rams worked out Manziel and Texas A teammates Jake Matthews and Mike Evans. Did that mean they might take Johnny Football with the second overall selection, or even the 13th selection should he last that long? Or maybe the Rams don't really want him at all, but want other teams to think they do.

"When you have the second pick in the draft, and you have to go work out three guys who are going to be drafted in the first round five days before the draft, I don't know if they're necessarily doing that for workout purposes," says ESPN analyst Bill Polian, who ran drafts for the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts.

CLOWNEY: Top pick or not, eager for wait to end

MANZIEL: 'I've answered every question' for teams

"Blowing a little smoke is fine," Polian says. "We would sometimes use part of our 30 visits to bring in players that weren't high on our list, just to create the idea that we were interested in them. We weren't above that. We didn't do it a lot because most of the visits you wanted to use for legitimate purposes."

This draft is two weeks later than usual, and Polian figures extra time means extra smoke.

"There are certainly more rumors floating around and, like most draft rumors, have no substance to them," Polian says. "But they sound good and people float them and there are more people like you and me in the media business talking about them than ever before and more time to fill. So there's more craziness out there."

That's why Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey goes into a self imposed media blackout for roughly five weeks before Brandon Thomas Womens Jersey each draft.

"I don't watch TV, I don't listen to the radio and I don't look at news clips," Dorsey says. "So I tune that out. And I do that for a reason because I don't want to be swayed either way. . (With) today's social media, information flies so quickly and it's a different era than it was five years ago. There's a lot of stuff floating out there."

2010 NFL Draft Day

2010 NFL Draft Day Two Analysis for the Kansas City Chiefs

This is my 2010 NFL Draft Day Two Analysis for the Kansas City Chiefs. Click this link to see my analysis for the first round pick of Tennessee Safety Eric Berry by the Kansas City Chiefs. Coming into the 2010 NFL draft I felt the Kansas City Chiefs needed offensive linemen and defensive Authentic Marqise Lee Jersey backs. I feel that winning football games starts on the offensive and defensive lines but that the Chiefs needed a cornerback or two.

With the 36th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Dexter McCluster the running back from Ole Miss. I am pretty pleased with the addition of McCluster because of his game breaking speed and return ability. Dexter McCluster will probably be used as a part time running back and also slot wide receiver.

By selecting Dexter McCluster the Chiefs are improving their big play ability on offense and in the return game as well. The big drawback to Dexter McCluster is his small stature. According to this ESPN article, McCluster is only www.officialauthenticjaguars.com/authentic-marqise-lee-jersey.html 5 8 and weighs 165 pounds. This is too small for a feature back in the NFL but as a part time player with certain packages in the playbook, McCluster is a good pick here.

My 2010 NFL draft day two analysis of the Kansas City Chiefs shows even more enthusiasm for their second pick in round two. With the 50th pick in the 2010 NFL draft the Chiefs picked cornerback Javier Arenas from Alabama.

I love the Chiefs pick of Javier Arenas because he is a cornerback who can also return kicks if needed. Arenas is small at 5 9 and 197 pounds but he is a playmaker. I like Javier Arenas for his football speed and smarts. The fact that he played for the National Champion at Alabama does not hurt him in the least. Playing for Alabama put him in some big games so he has experience. Javier Arenas added with Eric Berry gives the Chiefs a definite upgrade in their defensive secondary. Keep in mind the Chiefs play the San Diego Chargers and Phillip Rivers twice a year.

Jon Asamoah the guard from Illinois was taken by the www.officialauthenticjaguars.com/authentic-blake-bortles-jersey.html Chiefs with the 68th pick of the 2010 NFL draft. Jon Asamoah gives the Chiefs the offensive lineman I wanted them to pick but he plays guard rather than tackle.

Asamoah does help the Chiefs give all those nice skill players some room to run. With the addition of Dexter McCluster via the draft and Thomas Jones in free agency, Asamoah will be needed. I like his versatility because he can play either guard spot. In today's NFL versatility is the key to a long career on the offensive line. Players who can play multiple positions are in high demand.

All in all I am happy with the 2010 NFL draft, day two selections by the Kansas City Chiefs.
